1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV located - less than 11,000 miles
This big hunk of Ford-created sophistication is the proud owner of less than 11,000 miles on the odometer. It holds a secret, too, a stunning difference that makes this Lincoln unique among the unique.
New LOVEfords Information, Blogs, and Forum now open.

What's the catch? Well if you find one, let us know. The catch is, there is none. As stated above, LOVEfords "...is maintained independently on a volunteer basis by the author as a devoted effort to encourage the acquisition, preservation, and enjoyment of Ford-built vehicles and to recognize the accomplishments of the Blue Oval world-wide."
LOVEfords is an open-ended project; its only purpose is to satisfy the needs of FMEL enthusiasts.
Happy Birthday, dear Falcon! You're 50 years old.
The Falcon was introduced in October, 1959. Following five months later was the Comet. There are thousands of articles and pictures out there about these cars and they are well worth seeing. In keeping with the LOVEfords practice of sharing with you exactly what was available in print "in the day", you're invited to read the pictorial essay about the research, planning, engineering, and development of the Falcon and Comet. Enjoy it, and along with it the pictures of the 1960 Falcon Wagon and 1960 Comet Sedan prototype preproduction cars. Falcon and Comet, sharing their 50th birthday this season: they're just 5,000,000 more reasons to LOVEfords.

Above we see a 1960 Meteor Montcalm made by Ford of Canada. Not only is this car very uncommon to see in 2009 (or any year for that matter), how about that obscure color scheme? It's a combination of Ford (USA) Beechwood Brown and Mercury Polynesian Beige (the latter of which was not even offered as a comparable Ford color, even on Thunderbird). This picture comes from the 1959 Ford Motor Company Annual Report; it is a Ford marketing and publicity picture - so how about that factory-installed combination spotlight and mirror?!
If you would like a high-resolution copy of the 1960 Meteor Montcalm and/or the Ford Family of Fine Cars advertisement shown at the right please write to LOVEfords.
Chances are, if you asked 100 people "Who invented the automobile?", at least 90 would reply
"Henry Ford." This popular misconception is a glowing tribute to the man who made the automobile possible to the masses. While a good number of Americans and Europeans were working on the idea of a self-propelled vehicle, it is generally agreed that the automobile was conceived and came into being in Europe. Henry Ford, however, does get full credit for building the automobile that millions of people could afford. His guiding principle was this: "I will build a motor car for the great multitude...it will be so low in price...that no man will be unable to own one." The Ford Motor Company was incorporated in Detroit, Michigan on June 16, 1903.
The Cougar Club of America is attempting to register all remaining 1967-1973 Cougars, living or dead, into a Cougar database. This database includes all Cougars...from concourse restorations to project cars and those in junkyards and even those that have been parted out. This is not a showcar registry! We hope to use the information to help restorers, identify production trends and learn other helpful details about Cougar history. For this project to be a success, we need as much data as possible. It can be data from your pride and joy, or from your parts car out back under the tarp, or from that old owner's manual in your desk drawer. NOTE: This information will be used for statistical purposes only. Ownership information is held in strict confidence; register anonymously if you are concerned about privacy. The Cougar Registry is here.
